Minister of Congregational churches in Haverhill (1795-1803) and Beverly (1803-1828) Massachusetts, born in Andover (Mass.). A graduate of Harvard, Abiel Abbot married Eunice Wales of Dorchester (Mass.) in 1795. In the fall of 1818 Abbot, who suffered from a lung disorder, set out for South Carolina to improve his health.
